SERVICES OVERVIEW
Continuing & Professional Education at the Center for Professional Development includes all the programs that provide an opportunity for individuals to learn a new skill, obtain a certificate in a new field, stay current in their field, fulfill professional requirements for continuing certification, or complete educational requirements for their jobs.
Construction Institute Workshops provide busy professionals who are looking for concise, informative and flexible programs with hands-on workshops on a variety of construction and facilities topics. Certification is available in Construction Management or Facilities Management upon completion of a series of workshops specific to that field.
The Institute for Leadership and Talent Management allows for professionals interested or currently working in leadership or management fields to enhance their understanding of human resources issues while providing a benefit to their company or organization. Workshops tackle issues such as difficult employees, employee retention, and aiding in employees' career development. New this year are workshops focusing on personal career development as well as managerial and leadership skills.
Satellite Resource is a service of the Center that allows for your business to beam in a broadcast of interest to you and your employees. This service lets you decide what topics are most relevant to your employees continuing education.
Childcare Assistant Training became a program of the Center 15 years ago with the offering of training for individuals wanting to work in childcare centers. Today the program has multiple funding sources and offers three training modules to meet a variety of educational needs. Its basic training meets the requirements for the Child Development Associate (CDA) credential recognized by the profession as the basic certification required for work in the childcare field.
Continuing Education for Lawyers is a Center program offered in collaboration with the American Law Institute and American Bar Association (ALA-ABA). These courses are developed by the ALA-ABA and are broadcast via satellite to our location.
The Nursing Career Center of Connecticut recently began a collaboration with the Center for Professional Development to offer career development services to nurses and others in the allied health professions. These services may be in the form of career and educational counseling or management seminars for nurse managers and others in supervisory positions.
